This is an unusual find from the Portman Sewing Machine Company of New Rochelle, NY. It is almost a dead ringer for an Elna 1 aka Grasshopper, so I'm guessing dates to the 40's or 50's. It is a really cool teal hammertone and shiny chrome combo, but the paint is pretty chipped, as you can see in the photo. Serial # is 3586; you don't see many around. Light bulb needs replaced, but the motor runs quite smoothly and the parts all move. It is in "as found" condition: foot pedal included but I got nothing else with it--just loved the look. Hoping someone else does, too!
Thanks for looking. Please check out other machines that I am thinning from my collection.
